In the beginning of 1986, rumors were afloat that certain participants of Metallica had a side project called Spastic Children. Fred Cotton gave birth to the Children long before Metallica members joined. Jim Martin of Faith No More used to be a good friend of Cliff Burton's. The two of them were in a band called Easy Street way before Metallica was formed. The first show with the Exodus members was pretty bad and Fred asked the guys from Metallica to play instead. On the east coast at that time, word spread and someone wound up eventually sending a rare rehearsal which contained "Dirtbag Baby", "I Like Farts" and the "Ballad Of Harold O". What a cast of characters this must have been. You have guys like Cliff Burton or Gary Holt jamming out, acting like goons and blowing out the whole room with kush. New York had its share of side projects like Extra Hot Sauce and S.O.D yet none matched off with the Children. Here at the Attic we pay respect.
